All About Me
Nursery’s theme for the first half of the Autumn Term is ‘All About Me!’. We are looking at how we are similar to one another and ways in which we differ. We are exploring our feelings, considering what makes us feel happy and sad and talking about our family and friends, and encouraging the children to care for each other.
We have spent the first week or so settling into routines, establishing codes of behaviour, and developing relationships with new friends.
During our topic we are focusing on individual characteristics, using mirrors to notice facial features, eye and hair colour etc. Our topic also offers us the opportunity to explore ways of keeping healthy. We are talking about healthy foods, how moving our bodies can help us to keep fit and why we need to wash, sleep and clean our teeth.
Colour Days
Each month we will have a day where we will be focusing on a particular colour. On a particular day each month we ask the children to come to nursery dressed in that particular colour. We will ask the children to find objects from home of that colour to bring into nursery on that day. This develops important links between home and school for the child as they take information from nursery and relate it to you at home: ‘I’ve got to take something purple to nursery tomorrow’.
During the day the children will have the opportunity to participate in a range of activities relating to the days particular colour. Below is a list of the days we will be focusing on particular colours;
| Colour | Date |
| Purple | 18th September |
| Blue | 16th October |
| Grey | 20th November |
| Pink | 15th January |
| Red | 12th February |
| Green | 19th March |
| Yellow | 23rd April |
| Turquoise | 21st May |
| Orange | 18th June |
| Brown | 16th July |
There will be no colour day during December due to other festival activities.
Thanks
