Mima is OPEN!

Y2 have had an exciting term with lots of interesting events happening. We have been learning about Katie Morag and the Isle of Struay.

Mairi Hedderwick wrote the stories based on the Island of Coll, which is one of the West Hebride Islands.

We have learnt all about Island life and have enjoyed reading about Katie Morag, Granny Island, Granny Mainland, Nealy Beag and Baby Liam. We had a wonderful Katie Morag Day where Granny Mainland and Nealy Beag got married, we then had a ceilidah afterwards. In the afternoon mums, dads and nannas came to do Katie Morag arts and crafts with us. It was great fun. We even got some of our mums and dads to ceilidah dance with us!

We have written letters and stories to Mairi Hedderwick, we hope our stories give her some ideas.

Mima is OPEN!
We also visited the environmental centre at Guisborough to look at plants and animals in the local environment. We saw lots of frogs and frog spawn while we were pond dipping. We learnt about sticklebacks and kingfishers. We also went on a minibeast hunt and found lots of worms. The wooden animal sculptures were very good, and the rangers told us lots of facts about the animals.
